About the Role:

The Principal Moderator is responsible for ensuring that the standards of the internally assessed - externally moderated component are maintained and are consistent with the unit specification and assessment criteria.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Writing the Pearson Set Assignment, attending the Question Paper Evaluation Committee meeting (QPEC) and producing a final draft.
  • Compiling exemplar work, annotated to show how the assessment criteria are to be applied both for standardisation tasks, and published documents.
  • To ensure, through standardisation and monitoring, that all moderators (including Assistant Principal Moderators and Team Leaders) meet the standardisation requirements and apply the assessment criteria ensuring accuracy and consistency throughout.
  • Being involved in the awarding process and advising members on how the Pearson Set Assignment functioned and recommending preliminary mark ranges for the judgemental grade boundaries.
  • This Construction and practice component covers:
    • Carpentry & Joinery
    • Brickwork

Requirements:

  • Available to attend a variety of digital meetings, for a minimum of 10-13 non-consecutive day long events.
  • Some weekends.
  • Some meetings are fixed/do not have flexibility to be reorganised.
  • Experience of managing people and teams.
  • The ability to work well under pressure.
  • The ability to meet deadlines.
