About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Moderator to join our team at Pearson. As a Principal Moderator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and consistency of our assessment delivery processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the standardisation of moderators and ensure that the standards of an externally assessed unit(s)/module(s)/component(s) are maintained and consistent with the unit specification and assessment criteria.
  • Oversee the quality assurance process, including sampling supervisors'/Moderators' initial moderating and backread responses, and monitoring the progress of supervisors/Moderators.
  • Prepare and collate materials for standardisation, and support supervisors and Moderators in their roles.
  • Act as a senior point of escalation across the quality assurance process, and provide support and written responses to complaints where required.
  • Submit reports on the series/candidate performance, and provide recommendations for grade boundaries.
Requirements
  • Experience and knowledge of quality assurance and assessment practice.
  • History of moderation and/or moderating a regulated qualification.
  • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to provide and co-ordinate training such as standardisation and other standards-related activities.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of the specification for your specialist sector, including internal and external requirements.
