About the Role

The Principal Moderator is responsible for ensuring the standards of an externally assessed unit(s)/module(s)/component(s) are maintained and consistent with the unit specification and assessment criteria.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the standardisation of Moderators.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of contracted unit(s)/module(s)/component(s).
  • Exemplify the marking criteria using candidates' live work before the pre-standardisation meeting.
  • Lead meetings such as pre-standardisation and standardisation.
  • Support supervisors and Moderators.
  • Monitor the progress of supervisors/Moderators.
  • Review responses sent for clarification.
  • Act as a senior point of escalation across the quality assurance process.

Requirements

  • Experience and knowledge of quality assurance and assessment practice.
  • History of moderation and/or moderating a regulated qualification.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven ability to provide and co-ordinate training.
