Senior AFM Applications Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Senior AFM Applications Specialist to join our team at Oxford Instruments Materials Analysis in High Wycombe, UK.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute as a senior expert in Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and provide technical expertise and support to both internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform AFM demonstrations focused on research interests and needs of prospective customers
  • Compile well-written demonstration reports explaining AFM data clearly and ensuring maximum impact from available AFM images
  • Assist and advise sales and marketing teams on technical and scientific matters, including fielding technical questions from prospective customers and interpreting competitor claims
  • Perform AFM installations at customer sites throughout the UK, Ireland, Scandinavia, Middle East, Africa, and India, training customers on instrument operation and AFM techniques
  • Provide expert technical support to customers via phone, email, online, and web forums
  • Develop new applications and techniques and author technical notes, application notes, and/or scientific journal articles
  • Present new application developments and data at worldwide conferences, workshops, webinars, and internal meetings
What We Offer
  • Estimated annual salary: £40,000 - £60,000, depending on experience
  • Hybrid working arrangement with 3 days in the office and 2 days at home
  • 37-hour working week, finishing at 12:30 PM on Fridays
