Exciting Opportunity for an AFM Expert

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced AFM Applications Scientist to join our team at Oxford Instruments Materials Analysis. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology, collaborate with talented individuals, and contribute to the development of new applications and techniques.

About the Role

This role involves performing AFM demonstrations, compiling demonstration reports, assisting sales and marketing teams, installing AFMs at customer sites, providing technical support, developing new applications, and presenting research findings at conferences and workshops.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth demonstrations of AFM technology, highlighting its capabilities and applications.
  • Write clear and concise demonstration reports that showcase the effectiveness of AFM in various fields.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to develop targeted marketing materials, respond to technical inquiries, and educate non-technical staff on new applications and capabilities.
  • Install and train customers on AFM instruments, ensuring seamless integration into their workflows.
  • Provide expert technical support via phone, email, online forums, and webinars, addressing customer concerns and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Develop innovative applications, authoring technical notes, application notes, and scientific journal articles to share knowledge with the community.
  • Present research findings at international conferences, workshops, webinars, and internal meetings, showcasing the latest advancements in AFM technology.
  • Continuously improve AFM software by suggesting new features, reporting bugs, and enhancing user interface experience.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. or equivalent experience in a relevant field, such as physics, chemistry, biology, or materials science.
  • Proven expertise in AFM theory, operation, and applications, with a strong understanding of its principles and limitations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in technical writing, report generation, and presentation development, with a focus on clarity, concision, and visual appeal.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide creative solutions.
