Deputy Head of Financial Accounting and Reporting Specialist

Our client is a prominent Government Organisation based in the heart of Canary Wharf, seeking a highly skilled professional to fill the role of Deputy Head of Financial Accounting and Reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare interim and year-end financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, public sector accounting requirements, and International Financial Reporting Standards.
- Accounting Advice: Provide expert advice on the application of accounting standards, tax, and financial control issues.
- Management Accounts: Support the timely provision of monthly management accounts and continuously improve the production process.
- General Ledger Management: Oversee all aspects of the General Ledger, including chart of accounts, banking, VAT, Fixed Asset register, and reconciliations.
- Audit Liaison: Liaise with external auditors to ensure smooth progression of the audit of the Annual Reports and Accounts.
- Financial Reporting: Take ownership of submitting financial reports to DHSC and HM Treasury.
- Process Improvement: Analyse current processes to identify and implement ways to improve processes and financial control.
- Technical Expertise: Act as a subject expert, providing technical accounting advice in line with IFRS and the Financial Reporting Manual (FReM).
- Team Management: Manage a diverse team and ensure all professional training and development requirements are met.
- Financial Control: Lead the financial control function and effectively manage team dynamics to drive forward a shared goal.
- Collaboration with the Head of Financial Accounting and Reporting: Work with the Head to set a framework for timely and accurate production of accounts while ensuring compliance with policies.
