Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Deputy Head of Financial Accounting and Reporting to join our client's team. As a key member of the finance department, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate production of financial statements, while maintaining compliance with relevant legislation and accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Prepare and review financial statements, including interim and year-end reports, to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
  2. Provide expert advice on accounting standards, tax, and financial control issues to support the finance team.
  3. Support the production of monthly management accounts and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  4. Oversee all aspects of the General Ledger, including chart of accounts, banking, VAT, and Fixed Asset register.
  5. Liaise with external auditors to ensure a smooth audit process and meet the laying timetable.
  6. Take ownership of financial reporting to DHSC and HM Treasury, ensuring timely submission of reports.
  7. Analyse current processes to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance financial control.
  8. Act as a subject matter expert, providing technical accounting advice on IFRS and FReM.
  9. Manage a diverse team, ensuring professional development and training requirements are met.
  10. Lead the financial control function, driving forward a shared goal and managing team dynamics.
Working Together

As a key member of the finance team, you will work closely with the Head of Financial Accounting and Reporting to set the framework for timely and accurate production of accounts, while ensuring compliance with policies.
