About the Position

We are seeking an experienced Senior Health and Safety Expert to join our team at Network Rail. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the successful management of HSEA issues on major programmes of work in the construction and/or rail industries.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Providing functional support, guidance and professional expertise to teams on all health and safety matters to deliver successful execution of programmes or works.
  2. Working directly with teams providing health and safety direction by leading the HSEA specialist aligned to the team.
  3. Supporting teams on inspection and monitoring of the safety and environmental performance of projects and monitoring a consistent approach to contractor occupational and construction safety across all work.
  4. Working with teams to determine practical and deliverable measures to improve health & safety performance.
  5. Supporting teams in the investigation of accidents and incidents and in the implementation of resulting recommendations.
  6. Providing the single point of contact with HMRI and other health and safety organisations for day-to-day site health and safety.
  7. Co-ordinating the health & safety activities of programmes and maintaining effective liaison with other Regions, Programmes and Major Projects and aligned routes.
Requirements
  • NEBOSH Construction certificate
  • NEBOSH Tech SP certificate
  • Significant experience in the successful management of HSEA issues on major programmes of work in the construction and/or rail industries
  • Project Safety Management course
  • NEBOSH diploma, IEMA certificate
  • An experienced Health and Safety or Environment practitioner
  • Knowledge of Network Rail's systems and processes, working knowledge of rules, regulations and standards applicable to contractor safety

The salary for this role is expected to be approximately £68,000 per year.
