Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the General Surgery department for a Patient Pathway Coordinator to join our administrative team at Epsom Hospital.

You will provide professional administrative support to the General Surgery department, serving as the primary point of contact for patients and liaising with the clinical team to ensure a seamless patient experience.

Main Duties of the Job

The post holder will support the provision of high-quality patient care through dedicated administrative and clerical support and continuous improvement.

Based in a specialty clinical team, the post holder will be responsible for tracking and supporting patients from referral to treatment and/or discharge.

The post holder will provide a patient-focused service that supports clinical staff in the provision of efficient integrated pathways that enable the best use of resources.

The post holder will ensure high levels of patient care and clinician satisfaction by being an accessible, customer-focused, knowledgeable point of contact.

The post holder will work to organize appointments and surgery dates for patients referred to the service, requiring excellent communication skills to deal with multi-disciplinary teams.

The post holder will contribute to improving patient experience.

Person Specification
  • Good general education with GCSE or equivalent in English at grade C or above.
  • Experience of using a full range of IT/Patient administration systems and patient administration work in a healthcare setting.
  • Understanding of medical terminology and knowledge of databases, spreadsheets (e.g., PAS, Excel, or similar).
Desirable Criteria
  • ECDL NVQ level 3 in Business Administration or Customer Care or equivalent.
  • Experience in an NHS setting and experience working in a similar role in a hospital/healthcare setting.
