Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the General Surgery department for a Patient Pathway Coordinator to join our administrative team at Epsom Hospital.
You will provide professional administrative support to the General Surgery department, being the point of contact for our patients. You will also be required to liaise with the clinical team on a daily basis to ensure a seamless patient experience.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will support the provision of the highest quality patient care through dedicated administrative and clerical support and continuous improvement.
Based in a specialty clinical team, the post holder will be the point of contact for all administrative and clerical issues relating to patients' pathway of care, tracking and supporting them from referral to treatment &/or discharge.
The post holder will provide a patient-focused service that supports clinical staff in the provision of efficient integrated pathways that enable the best use of resources.
The post holder will ensure high levels of patient care and clinician satisfaction by being an accessible, customer-focused, knowledgeable point of contact.
The post holder will be working to organize appointments/surgery dates for patients referred to the service. Excellent communication skills are required to deal with multi-disciplinary teams. It is expected that the post holder will contribute to improving patient experience.

Our sites include St George's Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centers in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).

Person Specification
- Good general education with GCSE or equivalent in English at grade C or above.
- Experience of using a full range of IT/Patient administration systems Experience of patient administration work in a healthcare setting
- Understanding of medical terminology Knowledge of databases, spreadsheets e.g. PAS, Excel or similar
Desirable Criteria
- ECDL NVQ level 3 in Business Administration or Customer Care of equivalent
- Experience in an NHS setting Experience working in a similar role in a hospital/healthcare setting.
