About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Private Client Legal Director to join our friendly and professional team at Shakespeare Martineau. This is a niche role that requires specialists with experience working within the agricultural sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality private client advice to clients, particularly those in the agricultural industry, on inheritance tax and succession planning.
  • Work closely with our agricultural property team to provide input on partnership and shareholders' agreements, and prepare Balfour type reviews of businesses to ascertain the trading status of the client's business.
  • Draft wills, letters of wishes, and powers of attorney, including business powers of attorney, and administer deceased farmers' estates.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of Solicitors.
  • Undertake legal research to ensure accuracy of advice and procedures.
  • Support internal procedures and systems, including file/case management and time recording.
  • Travel to meet with clients and attend meetings as required.
Requirements
  • A good solid background in all areas of private client work, including the production of Trust and Estate Accounts and Tax Returns.
  • Particular experience of advising and supporting clients from an agricultural background.
  • A full clean driving licence is required.
