Job Description

As a Visitor Centre Assistant, you'll play a vital role in bringing our premium brands to life, showcasing our rich heritage and commitment to quality.

This exciting opportunity is based in Islay, Scotland, where you'll join our team at the Laphroaig Brand Home. As a key member of our visitor centre team, you'll be responsible for delivering world-class customer experiences, promoting our whisky to visitors and industry colleagues from around the globe.

Your role will involve a wide range of responsibilities, from tour guiding and whisky tastings to working in our retail shop and tasting bar. You'll have the opportunity to learn about our distillery's history and heritage, and share this knowledge with visitors to enhance their experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading distillery tours and on/offsite tastings, delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring a world-class experience for all visitors.
  • Working across all areas of the visitor centre, including hosting groups, working in the retail shop, and tasting bar.
  • Hosting all levels of tours, including distillery tours, and delivering high standards of customer service.
  • Assisting with stock takes and counts, daily banking and reconciliation, and administrative duties such as responding to customer emails and processing sales orders.
  • Working closely with the Visitor Centre Manager to define annual goals and objectives, and collaborating with the distillery operations team to ensure company operational procedures and H&S practices are adhered to.

Requirements:

  • Customer service experience, with a basic knowledge of whisky desirable but not required (full training will be provided).
  • Current driving license and previous experience in the hospitality, retail, and/or tourism sector.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a 'can do' attitude and ability to work on own initiative.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with excellent oral and written skills and ability to deliver presentations to varied audiences.
