Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Arboricultural Specialist to join our team at Essex County Council. As a key member of our Place Services department, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality arboricultural services to our clients across the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the provision of arboricultural services, including specialist planning advice, highway tree management, and large-scale arboricultural assessments and surveys.
  • Develop and review complex plans, policies, and guidance related to arboriculture and ecology.
  • Manage high-value projects and contracts, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver multi-disciplinary projects and services.
  • Identify and implement improvements to service delivery, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements
  • Qualified Professional Tree Inspector with strong evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Authoritative technical and subject matter expert in arboriculture and ecology.
  • Effective people management skills, with experience in employee performance and development.
  • Strong understanding of commercial practices, with accomplished negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead specialist and multi-disciplinary project teams and manage multiple, large-scale, and complex projects.
  • Advanced use of common and specialist software packages, including GIS and ICT tools.
