We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Education Safeguarding Specialist to join our team at Essex County Council. As a key member of our Education Safeguarding Team, you will play a vital role in supporting schools, early years settings, and other education providers in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert advice and guidance to education settings on safeguarding and child protection matters.
- Work collaboratively with statutory partners and other key professionals to improve safeguarding outcomes for children in Essex.
- Contribute to the development of resources and training programs to support consistent, quality delivery of safeguarding training across all settings.
- Support education settings to raise standards through development of self-evaluation and undertaking safeguarding reviews of statutory responsibilities.
- Deliver safeguarding briefings for education settings to ensure Designated Leads receive relevant information to support their role as safeguarding leads.
- Respond to safeguarding complaints and ensure that any necessary action is taken as part of that response.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and information on child protection and safeguarding matters to ensure education settings receive regular and relevant updates on important issues.
- Educated to degree level, or equivalent by experience.
- Evidence of continuing professional development and expert knowledge in relevant professional area.
- Sound understanding of child protection and safeguarding statutory guidance and procedures specifically in relation to education.
- Evidence of working with schools at a senior level, demonstrating a broad and in-depth knowledge of education.
- Proven track record of effective partnership working which is collaborative and influential in delivering advice and guidance.
- Exemplar leadership and behavioural skills with the ability to focus on results, forging a strong team from diverse backgrounds to achieve strategic objectives.
- Proven ability of proactively influencing, leading and delivering major cultural and organisational change in a complex environment.
- Able to communicate with a range of people at all levels.
- Level 3 Safeguarding Training for Education Designated Leads.
