Job Overview

We are looking for a Senior Safety Consultant to join our team. As a key member of our Safety, Security & Safeguards team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our staff and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have a strong understanding of nuclear safety principles.

Key Responsibilities

  1. To provide expert advice on safety matters related to nuclear operations;
  2. To develop and implement safety procedures and protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements;
  3. To conduct risk assessments and identify potential hazards;
  4. To collaborate with internal stakeholders to promote a safety culture;
  5. To communicate effectively with external partners and stakeholders;
  6. To maintain accurate records and reports.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • BSc in a relevant discipline (e.g., nuclear engineering, physics, chemistry);
  • Possession of a relevant professional qualification (e.g., CEng, CSci);
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a safety-related role;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Benefits

National Nuclear Laboratory offers a competitive salary range of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience. We also offer a range of benefits, including pension scheme, flexible working hours, and opportunities for professional development.
