About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safeguarding Facilitator to join our team at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic professional to make a meaningful contribution to the safeguarding of children, young people, and adults with care and support needs.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting mental health staff in the delivery and embedding of safeguarding in clinical settings across the trust. They will work closely with local safeguarding professionals, networks, and training sub-groups to promote effective safeguarding practice.

Main Responsibilities

The post holder will be expected to:

  • Develop and implement safeguarding strategies to meet the organisation's statutory and contractual obligations;
  • Provide expert advice, support, and teaching on safeguarding best practices;
  • Work proactively across all BSMHFT sites, building relationships with local stakeholders and promoting effective safeguarding practices;
  • Deputise for the Safeguarding Named Nurses and other Safeguarding Facilitators as needed;
  • Represent the trust at external multi-agency meetings.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree-level education or equivalent experience;
  • Current professional qualifications;
  • Significant experience in safeguarding and domestic abuse;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of child/adult safeguarding legislation and its implications;
  • Experience working with parents suffering from mental health/addiction problems and understanding the implications for the child and family;
  • Excellent supervision and report writing skills;
  • Able to establish and develop effective working relationships across agency boundaries.
