SEND Teaching Assistant Complex Needs Support Specialist

Empowering Learning Ltd. is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support the educational journey of children with complex needs and learning difficulties. As a member of our team, you will work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and other professionals to provide individualised support to students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the implementation of EHCPs and behaviour management strategies.
  • Support students in their academic activities, including reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Facilitate independent learning and engagement in classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers and therapists to adapt and modify curriculum materials to meet individual student needs.
  • Promote social interaction and foster a positive classroom environment.
  • Monitor and record student progress, behaviour, and achievements.
  • Assist in the supervision of students during break times, outings, and extracurricular activities.
  • Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment.

Requirements:

  • Relevant teaching assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience working with children with complex needs and learning difficulties is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of special education strategies and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • A genuine passion for supporting the educational development of children with diverse needs.
  • First aid and safeguarding certifications are advantageous.
