Main Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to practices within the Primary Care Network to ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are up to date and consistent with best practice.
  • Support the development and implementation of safeguarding training programs for staff, promoting a multidisciplinary approach to safeguarding.
  • Provide guidance on recording and coding safeguarding relevant information within the electronic patient record, ensuring timely and proportionate safeguarding reports.
  • Facilitate the use of templates and decision support tools to support best practice in safeguarding, auditing their use to ensure compliance.
  • Support practices in achieving CQC compliance with respect to the safeguarding of staff and patients.
  • Take a key role in developing and running an effective practice safeguarding MDT for children and vulnerable adults, ensuring the practice has a vulnerable patient register that is kept up to date.
  • Establish effective relationships with local safeguarding partners, ensuring the timely sharing of relevant information when safeguarding concerns arise.
  • Support practices in responding to statutory requests for information required by the local authority to carry out local child or adult safeguarding case reviews.
  • Promote the understanding of local safeguarding referral pathways, including Early Help and support services for victims of domestic abuse.
Person Specification
  • Experience of working in the health or care sector, preferably in a safeguarding role.
  • Experience of working within a multi-professional team, with a good understanding of General Practice, Primary Care Networks, and Safeguarding.
  • Experience of direct patient contact/service users and Carers/Families, with the ability to coordinate meetings and work with clinical terminology and coding.
  • Experience of working with SystemOne/Emis, with a good understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
