Special Education Support Assistant

Ribbons & Reeves are recruiting a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs in a mainstream Primary School in Richmond.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will work under the direction of the SENCO to support the delivery of quality learning and teaching of pupils with Special Educational Needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the SENCO and teaching staff in delivering quality learning and teaching to pupils with SEND.
- Encourage pupils to participate in social and academic processes and enable them to become more independent learners.
- Work with pupils who have a range of additional and complex SEND, including ADHD, ASC, social, emotional, and mental health difficulties.
- Undertake specified work with individuals, groups, and whole classes under the direction and supervision of a qualified teacher.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a degree, strong attainment across GCSE and A-Level, and excellent communication skills. They will also have a flexible and adaptable approach to work and be able to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
A good understanding of how children learn and previous knowledge of ASC and ADHD are also essential. The successful candidate will have good organisational skills, a positive and resilient mindset, and be able to work well under pressure.
Full training and inductions will be provided to support the successful candidate in their role.
