About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated English Teacher to join our team at Reed Education. As an Academic English Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health-related barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons to support students in making good or outstanding progress
  • Set clear targets for students' learning, taking into account prior attainment and individual needs
  • Have regard for and plan to meet the special educational needs of students
  • Develop expert knowledge in the subject area and stay up-to-date with curriculum developments
  • Assess student work and progress, providing regular feedback and using this to inform teaching
  • Prioritize reading to develop students' fluency, confidence, and enjoyment
  • Develop subject-specific schemes of work for all year groups, ensuring coherent planning and sequencing
  • Build learning towards meaningful accreditation and the next stage of education, training, or employment
  • Report on student progress in line with school policy
  • Maintain a stimulating and engaging learning environment, ensuring students can focus on learning
  • Manage behavior positively, in line with school policy
  • Undertake a pastoral and support role as required
  • Attend school events as required
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including whole-school routines, paperwork, and duties
  • Take responsibility for your own professional development and engage with performance management activities

  • An independent DFE-registered day school providing specialist education for students aged 11-16
  • Tailor education to a range of special educational needs and diagnoses, including communication difficulties, challenging behavior, social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, and more complex needs
  • Offer a personalized curriculum and a therapeutic and holistic educational experience, led by an experienced and knowledgeable team of staff
