Job Overview
Academics Ltd is seeking an experienced SEND Learning Assistant to support a non-verbal child with autism in a welcoming school environment. As a dedicated professional, you will work closely with the child and their family to provide tailored support and enhance their learning experience.

About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate and patient individual with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs. The successful candidate will have previous experience working with children with autism and will be familiar with communication strategies such as Makaton or PECS. The role involves supporting the child on a one-to-one basis, developing and implementing individual learning plans, and promoting their social, emotional, and personal development.

Key Responsibilities
• Support a child with non-verbal autism in the classroom
• Assist in the development and implementation of individual learning plans
• Support with communication strategies and help the child engage in learning activities
• Promote the child's social, emotional, and personal development
• Work alongside the class teacher to ensure the child's needs are met

Requirements
• Previous experience working with children with autism and special educational needs
• Understanding of non-verbal communication techniques (e.g., Makaton, PECS)
• Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting children with SEND
• A proactive and flexible approach to work
