SEND Support Assistant - Southend-on-Sea, Essex
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled SEND Support Assistant to support a non-verbal child with autism in a welcoming school environment. The successful candidate will have experience working with children with special educational needs and be able to provide tailored support to help them succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Support a child with non-verbal autism on a one-to-one basis in the classroom.
- Assist in developing and implementing individual learning plans.
- Provide communication strategies and help the child engage in learning activities.
- Promote the child's social, emotional, and personal development.
- Work closely with the class teacher to ensure the child's needs are met.
- Encourage independence and assist with personal care as required.
- Build positive relationships with the child, their family, and the school team.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children with autism and special educational needs.
- Understanding of non-verbal communication techniques is beneficial.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting children with SEND.
- A proactive and flexible approach to work.
- Experience in a classroom environment is essential.
- Relevant qualifications are desirable.

Compensation Package: A competitive salary of £25,000 - £35,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
Location: Southend-on-Sea, Essex.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, Mornings Only (Approx. 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM).
