Waste Connections of Canada Inc. is seeking a seasoned professional to lead our operations in Peterborough, ON. As a District Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of approximately 50 employees, managing a hauling operation with 40 routes, a Material Recovery Facility (MRF), and a Transfer Station.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement procedures to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations;
- Manage full P&L responsibility, including developing strategic operations plans and forecasts;
- Lead a team to achieve and exceed safety targets, grow sales, optimize working capital, and manage processes;
- Develop and support employees through training, coaching, and goal setting;
- Monitor and report district financial results, adjust staffing requirements, and negotiate disposal and transportation costs;
- Implement organizational structure and succession plans to meet business objectives;
- Identify strategic acquisition candidates, negotiate transactions, and ensure integration plans are in place;
- Develop relationships with key partners, including municipal government officials, to address environmental and waste concerns;
- Oversee personnel needs, including selecting, coaching, and evaluating employees.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in senior operations management and/or sales management;
- Prior transportation/logistics experience is an asset;
- Post-secondary degree, preferably in business/commerce;
- Excellent planning, strategy, and analytical skills;
- Highly developed leadership and entrepreneurial skills;
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills;
- Proven track record in meeting business plan objectives.
