Waste Connections of Canada Inc. is seeking a seasoned professional to lead our operations in Peterborough, ON.

The successful candidate will oversee a team of approximately 50 employees, responsible for a hauling operation with 40 routes, a Material Recovery Facility (MRF), and a Transfer Station.

We are looking for a strategic leader with a proven track record in meeting business objectives, who can develop and implement procedures for safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic operations plans to support growth strategies;
  • Manage full P&L responsibility, including developing annual business plans and budgets;
  • Adjust and monitor staffing requirements to meet customer service expectations and productivity targets;
  • Negotiate disposal and transportation costs to optimize tons to landfills;
  • Monitor customer feedback to optimize customer service levels;
  • Approve and monitor sales plans, including territory planning and sales tracking;
  • Implement organizational structure and succession plans to meet business objectives;
  • Provide training, coaching, and goal setting for direct reports;
  • Review and approve district financial reports;
  • Identify strategic acquisition candidates and negotiate transactions;
  • Develop relationships with key partners in municipal government.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years experience in senior operations management and/or sales management;
  • Prior transportation/logistics experience is an asset;
  • Post-secondary degree, preferably in business/commerce;
  • Excellent planning, strategy, and analytical skills;
  • Highly developed leadership and entrepreneurial skills;
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills;
  • Proven track record in meeting business objectives.
