We are seeking an experienced registered midwife to join our team as a Perinatal Governance and Quality Improvement Lead. This is an exciting opportunity to enhance the standards of care provided to our patients and contribute to the improvement of our perinatal services.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will support the Head of Perinatal Governance and Quality Improvement in the organisation and delivery of the perinatal strategy and alignment with the overall Trust governance processes. This will involve overseeing, monitoring, and reporting on the progress of national drivers such as risk management, infection prevention and control, Care Quality Commission standards and regulations, and regulatory initiatives.
The Perinatal Governance and Quality Improvement Lead will also lead the service clinical governance groups, ensuring they are progressive, contemporaneous, and drive sustainable improvement in learning and practice. This will involve collaborating with the senior leadership team to enable a positive safety culture within the division and demonstrating an inclusive and mentoring approach to leadership.
Key Responsibilities- Support the perinatal services in meeting its statutory requirements and clinical governance objectives by overseeing, monitoring, and reporting on the progress of national drivers.
- Lead the service clinical governance groups, ensuring they are progressive, contemporaneous, and drive sustainable improvement in learning and practice.
- Collaborate with the senior leadership team to enable a positive safety culture within the division and demonstrate an inclusive and mentoring approach to leadership.
- Develop and maintain Quality Improvement Trackers in line with PSIRF.
- Develop and maintain relationships with the Maternity and Newborn Safety Investigations (MNSI) ensuring all incidents that meet the MNSI and Early Notifications eligibility criteria are referred in timeframes expected.
- Ensure governance and quality is embedded within the wards, including the dissemination of risk, audit, learning from excellence, complaints, and trends.
- Review and maintain the accuracy of the maternity dashboard to enable the comparison, monitoring, and delivery of divisional KPIs, CQUIMS (MSDS), NMPA, NNPA, NMI, and CIPS.
- Actively participate in Divisional and Trust meetings, representing all elements of the service provision.
- Represent the service and the organisation at system-wide meetings, working collaboratively with partners within the Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS).
- Registered midwife.
- Change management experience.
- Human Factors Training.
- Master's degree or equivalent postgraduate experience or currently on a masters pathway.
- Quality Improvement methodology Training.
- Experience in neonatal risk management and governance.
- Experience of collaboration with system partners.
- Experience of working with a wide range of staff to deliver effective risk management strategies and quality improvement.
