We are currently looking for a talented Cover Tutor to join our team at HMP Altcourse, working with Novus, the leading prison education provider. As a Cover Tutor, you will play a vital role in mentoring learners and enhancing their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.

The successful candidate will work closely with our dedicated team to deliver engaging lessons, fostering a supportive learning environment. You will be supported by Learning Support Practitioners & Student Support Workers, ensuring that lessons run smoothly. Time will be allocated for lesson planning, and your Local Education Manager will provide guidance as needed. Delivery occurs between Monday and Friday.

To succeed in this position, you must possess:

  • A teaching qualification or subject specialist qualification at Level 4 (or Level 5 new standards) with a commitment to obtaining the relevant outstanding Level 4 (or Level 5 new standards) qualification within a specified timeframe.
  • Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.
  • A track record of effective teaching in your subject specialism.
  • A clean, enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
