Job Description

You will report to the corporate centre with responsibility for developing effective and efficient financial and administrative systems. This will include providing a professional and effective financial administration and support service to the Adult Social Care and Public Health Division and the Children's Services Division.

About the Role

  • Assist the Financial Controller in maintaining the financial stability of both organisations for the future, supporting with the production of monthly statements, completion of government returns, and monitoring capital budgets to meet the key priorities of both Councils.
  • Develop effective and efficient financial and administrative systems to ensure that the service department can fulfil its financial responsibilities and provide a professional and effective financial administration and support service.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • A good understanding of basic accounting principles and budgetary control with relevant experience in an accounting role in local government.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining and improving the quality of services provided.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise tasks to deliver on service goals and ambitions is a must.
  • Proficient IT skills to use spreadsheets, financial systems and other relevant packages for analysis and presentation.
