About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Anaesthetics Nurse/ODP to join our team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our theatre team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the smooth operation of our anaesthetic services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with senior staff and multidisciplinary teams to maintain excellent clinical standards and staff development.
  • Perform anaesthetic assistant tasks, following all checks and procedures as laid down in national and theatre policy.
  • Support other members of the anaesthetic team and contribute to the overall performance of the team.
  • Act as a mentor and support the continuing professional development of staff.
  • Carry out relevant forms of care without direct supervision and demonstrate procedures to junior staff.
  • Provide cover for other areas of the clinical team as required.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse/Registered ODP qualification.
  • Relevant anaesthetic course.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in anaesthetics.
  • Sound knowledge of cardiothoracic/paediatric theatre practice.
  • Experience of supervising junior staff.
  • Knowledge of research and audit.

  • Relevant experience within cardiothoracic theatres.
  • Ability to demonstrate application of expanded roles/skills within a clinical setting.
