Job Title: Deputy Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Manager to join our team at Barnardo's, a leading children's charity. As a Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of our Short Breaks Service, which provides a safe and nurturing environment for children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and challenging behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build trust and develop nurturing relationships with service users, promoting their independence, wellbeing, strengths, and capabilities.
  • Work in partnership with parents/carers and other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for our service users.
  • Lead shifts and conduct staff supervisions to ensure high standards of care and support.
  • Support the Registered Manager with audits and other duties as required.
  • Contribute to the upkeep of the home, including cooking, cleaning, and other domestic tasks.
  • Document information accurately and ensure records are kept up to date.
  • Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • Promote, monitor, and maintain a safe environment for our service users.
Requirements:
  • Hold a Level 3 qualification relevant to Residential Childcare.
  • Hold OR be willing to work towards the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care and Children & Young People's services.
  • Have at least 1 year supervisory and shift leader experience in a Children's Residential setting.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with OFSTED Regulations and Quality Standards of Children's homes, with the ability to support the manager to achieve a rating of outstanding.
  • Knowledge and experience of recording and reporting to enable safeguarding and protection of children & young people.
