The Senior Aquatic Care Professional role is a key position within our team at the UK's largest SEA LIFE site in London. This exciting opportunity involves working with a diverse range of marine animals, including sharks, stingrays, sea turtles, and jellyfish.

About the Position

As a Senior Aquatic Care Professional, you will be responsible for the health and wellbeing of our marine animals, as well as maintaining the filtration and life support systems. You will also provide medication and treatment under direction, and maintain strict codes of practice for the use, storage, and record-keeping of all medications and chemicals.

This is a full-time, permanent role, working any 5 days out of 7, including weekends and bank holidays on a roster basis. The estimated salary for this role is £42,000 - £47,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Carry out routine maintenance of filtration and life support systems
  • Provide medication and treatment under direction
  • Maintain strict codes of practice for medications and chemicals
  • Support the Displays Supervisor and curator with all aspects of managing the displays team

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience of animal husbandry with freshwater, marine animals, and amphibians
  • Great communication skills and a confident presenter
  • Team player who can help lead a team
  • Skills in animal training and enrichment
  • A qualification in animal care, marine biology, or equivalent
