About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Nurse Specialist to join our Lower GI Team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing individualized patient-centered care to those diagnosed with colorectal cancer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support patients and colleagues in breaking bad news and navigating the investigation and staging pathway.
  • Contribute to the personalized care of patients, providing appropriate information and advice to patients and others affected by cancer.
  • Provide a responsive service to queries and concerns, triaging and making clinical decisions as needed.
  • Signpost and refer patients to relevant services, such as counseling and palliative care.
  • Liaise effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including oncology, stoma care, and ERP.
  • Work collaboratively with the CNS teams across UHSx and with partner organizations.
  • Support junior staff members and contribute to service development, including developing measurable KPIs.

Requirements
  • NMC registration.
  • Relevant experience at band 6.
  • Demonstrable enhanced communication skills.
  • MDT/cross-boundary working experience.
  • Service development/improvement/change management experience, including audit and data analysis.
  • Leadership and mentorship experience.
  • Evidence of relevant further study.
