About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Palliative Medicine to join our established team at Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a multi-professional team in community and hospice settings, and to develop the service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical oversight and leadership to the comprehensive multi-professional specialist palliative care services across the Portsmouth and South East Hampshire locality.
  • Lead trainee supervision, education, appraisal, or undertake a clinical leadership role.
  • Develop the service and work collaboratively with the team to achieve this goal.
  • Participate in the non-resident 2nd on-call 1 in 5 rota, with the aim to reduce the frequency of on-call duties in the future.

Person Specification

We are looking for a Consultant in Palliative Medicine who possesses the following qualifications and experience:

  • MB BS or equivalent
  • MRCP (UK), MRCGP or equivalent
  • On the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) or CESR
  • European Community Rights
  • Full Registration with the GMC with license to practice
  • Valid medical indemnity insurance

Desirable qualifications and experience include:

  • Other degrees
  • A research based higher degree (PhD, MD or equivalent)
  • Leadership experience &/or qualifications
  • Education, teaching or training experience &/or qualifications
