The Role

We're seeking a seasoned Chief Systems Safety Engineer to join our team in Havant, Hampshire. As part of our Hybrid Working model, you'll have the flexibility to work from home with occasional travel to our offices in Havant and Yeovil, and customer sites in Crawley, Bristol, and Culdrose.

Your primary responsibility will be leading product safety across all LM UK RMS business areas, ensuring compliance with Defence and commercial safety standards, such as Def Stan 00-056, Def-Stan 00-055, Mil Std 882, IEC61508, DSA02, and project-oriented safety management systems like POSMS.

You'll also be responsible for developing safety cases using the Adelard Safety Case Editor (ASCE), hazard management using eCassandra, event tree and fault tree development using Reliability Work Bench, and owning and maintaining all product safety management processes.

In addition, you'll provide technical leadership and direction on safety programmes, implement and coordinate programme safety and environmental activities, review and approve flight approval and safety documentation, and represent LM UK at senior-level meetings.

About You

  • You have recent, relevant experience in implementing safety programmes in a prime contractor/systems integration environment.
  • You possess a deep understanding of UK and EU safety-related legislation, environmental legislation, and defence and commercial safety standards.
  • You're proficient in safety case development, hazard management, event tree and fault tree development, and project-oriented safety management systems.
