Worcester, Worcestershire, United Kingdom Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts Full time

Role Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Wildlife and Water Officer to join our team at Worcestershire Wildlife Trust.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering our strategic goals, which include nature recovery, action for nature, and sustaining our future.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with land managers and policymakers to take action for nature and the climate, and to help us deliver wildlife and water conservation across the county.

About the Role:

  • This is a full-time, 35 hours per week position on a fixed-term contract for three years (with potential for extension).
  • The role will be largely based at Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, with regular travel within Worcestershire and occasionally further afield.
  • The post-holder will have good ecological skills, especially for wetland and farmland species and habitats, and will communicate confidently to engage and motivate farmers and landowners.
  • The successful candidate will also have good strategic planning skills to respond to local and national water-focused consultations, and experience of managing contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. To deliver advisory visits and support to farmers and land managers interested in benefitting from grant support for wildlife, cleaner water, wetlands, and nature's recovery.
  2. To build networks with equivalent roles in other Wildlife Trusts and work with the national team to further nature conservation and nature's recovery across the Wildlife Trust movement.
  3. To contribute to the development and implementation of the Trust's strategy to 2030.

What We Offer:

  • A competitive salary of £25,000-£27,000 per annum.
  • A full driving licence is essential and access to own transport.
  • Approved work mileage allowance will be paid at 45 pence per mile.
  • The normal working day is 9am to 5pm (one hour for lunch), Monday to Friday. Some evening and weekend working may be required.
  • Overtime is not paid but time off in lieu may be taken, where appropriate.
