About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Emergency Practitioner to join our team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a clinical lead, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and providing leadership to junior staff in the Emergency Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, investigate, treat, and either refer or discharge patients who present with minor injuries and illnesses.
  • Work as an autonomous practitioner, directing and delivering a patient-focused service within the Emergency Department and Urgent Care Centre.
  • Provide advanced clinical expertise, levels of judgment, and decision-making in clinical care to independently provide a high standard of care for patients of all ages.
  • Act as the clinical lead professional to organize and manage the care of patients with minor injuries and illnesses.
  • Support junior staff in the department with decision-making and take accountability for the total episode of care of the patient.
Requirements
  • Active RN Adult/Paediatric registration with the NMC or HCPC Registration on the Paramedic or Physiotherapy register.
  • United Kingdom recognized Degree in either: Level 6 BSc within Minor Injury & or Illness or Level 6/7 Advancing Practice in Clinical Assessment, Reasoning, and Differential Diagnosis for Urgent, Emergency, and Primary Care Practitioners.
  • Non-Medical Independent & Supplementary Prescribing.
  • Experience (through placement or employment) of working in an Acute & or Emergency clinical environment.
  • Substantial years of experience in Minor Injury/Illness as a Band 6.
  • Able to supervise non-registered and less experienced staff to ensure effective service and care delivery.
  • Able to contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of policies/protocols/guidelines relevant to the area of practice.
