About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our First Point of Contact Centre team at Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and triage mental health referrals coming into the Trust, ensuring that callers receive the most appropriate support and guidance.
  • Work closely with Senior Health Practitioners colleagues and the Operational Manager to develop and implement effective referral pathways and protocols.
  • Provide high-quality written communication and have the ability to communicate clearly in difficult and complex situations.
  • Collaborate with other agencies, including the voluntary sector, to provide a comprehensive and coordinated response to mental health needs.
  • Conduct initial assessments, including risk assessments, and allocate referrals to the most appropriate service within the Trust or signpost to a relevant external service.
  • Be involved in the triaging of crisis referrals under the supervision of senior colleagues.
Requirements
  • Registered Mental Health Practitioner status or Registered Practitioner with significant mental health experience (nursing, allied health, psychological and social care professionals) registered with a governing body for example the NMC.
  • Demonstrable and significant post-qualification experience in mental health or related areas.
  • Sound experience of first-line assessments, including assessment of risk.
  • Excellent written and communication skills, and able to communicate effectively with a wide range of agencies.
  • An excellent understanding of the range of services offered within Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust.
