Job Summary

The Senior Emergency Practitioner will be a registered healthcare professional from a nursing, paramedic, or physiotherapy background, with experience and skills in minor injuries and illnesses. They may be a prescriber or have the capability to use our extensive patient group directives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with service delivery within the Emergency Department and Medical division.
  • Work as an autonomous practitioner, directing and delivering a patient-focused service within Gloucester and Cheltenham EDs and the 'Nurse Led Service' at Cheltenham General Hospital at night.
  • Demonstrate advanced clinical expertise, levels of judgment, and decision-making in clinical care to independently provide a high standard of care for patients of all ages presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed unscheduled care needs.
  • Act as the clinical lead professional to organize and manage the care of patients with minor injuries and illnesses.
  • Support junior staff in the department with decision-making and take accountability and provide clinical leadership to Cheltenham ED overnight.

Person Specification
  • Active RN Adult/Paediatric registration with the NMC or HCPC Registration on the Paramedic or Physiotherapy register.
  • United Kingdom recognized Degree in either: Level 6 BSc within Minor injury & or Illness Or Level 6/7 Advancing Practice in Clinical Assessment, Reasoning, and Differential Diagnosis for Urgent, Emergency, and Primary Care Practitioners.
  • Non-Medical Independent & Supplementary Prescribing.
