Job Summary

Kent County Council is seeking a highly motivated Senior Practitioner to join the Disabled Children's Team, covering the South East of the County. As a Senior Practitioner, you will play a key role in providing support and guidance to families and other agencies in promoting the welfare of disabled children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and guidance to Social Workers and other professionals on child protection, child in need, and children in care/court proceedings.
  • Supervise and mentor less experienced staff, promoting good practice and championing expertise in disability support.
  • Take the lead in delivering reflective practice sessions to the team, ensuring high-quality care and support for disabled children.
  • Support the team manager in their absence, including chairing team meetings and overseeing the work of the team.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to disability support, ensuring they are aligned with relevant legislation and policies.

Requirements

  • Registered Social Worker with Social Work England.
  • Substantial and varied experience of working with children and their carers and families, including child protection and relevant legislation and policies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to promoting the welfare of disabled children.
