Clinical Expertise: As a highly skilled Intensive Care Consultant, you will provide anaesthesia for a wide range of cardiac, cardiology, and thoracic surgical procedures, including thoracic transplantation and mechanical circulatory support. You will also be responsible for the provision of Intensive Care for complex postoperative surgical patients, including those with transplantation, short- and long-term mechanical circulatory support, as well as critically ill cardiology and heart failure patients.

Administrative Responsibilities: You will be actively engaged in clinical governance and audit, committed to continuing medical education, and demonstrate reflective practice. This will enable you to contribute to the development of high-quality patient care and ensure that our services are responsive to the needs of our patients.

Research and Development: You will be expected to be involved in clinical research, presenting at regional and national meetings, and conducting research projects. This will enable you to contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge and improve patient outcomes.

Teaching and Training: You will be able to participate in our current teaching programs within the Directorate and the Trust, as well as Medical Simulation Training. This will enable you to develop and maintain your skills, as well as contribute to the education and training of our staff.

Flexibility and Adaptability: We are developing our service provision to be responsive to the needs of our patients, and as a result, some staff groups will be asked to work a more flexible work pattern, including evening and weekend work. You will be expected to be adaptable and flexible in your working arrangements to meet the needs of our patients.
