We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Neonatal Transport Nurse Specialist to join our team at The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Northern Neonatal Transport Service, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care to critically ill newborns.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in neonatal intensive care, with expertise in caring for sick babies who require ventilatory support, nitric oxide therapy, and therapeutic hypothermia. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating patient care, as well as providing effective support to parents throughout the care pathway.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Band 5 nurse to develop their skills and transition to a Band 6 Specialist Nurse role within the Northern Neonatal Transport Team. Under the supervision of an experienced transport nurse and medical staff, you will work under the guidance of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) requirements for mentorship.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating high-quality patient care
- Providing effective support to patients and carers throughout their care pathway
- Acting as a patient advocate in accordance with NMC Code
- Contributing to the development of nursing practice within the specialist field
- Supporting the training and education of junior staff
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- NMC registration
- Diploma/Degree in Nursing or equivalent experience
- Experience in neonatal intensive care
- Understanding of professional and current issues in Neonatal nursing
- Awareness of current relevant NHS policy context
