Role:

As the Chief Climate and Sustainability Risk Officer, you will lead our efforts in identifying, assessing, and managing climate-related risks across our organization. You will work closely with key stakeholders to develop and implement strategies to address climate-related risks and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

Management and leadership of the climate and sustainability risk team, with responsibility for climate risk policies, procedures, and governance structures.

Design and implementation of a sustainability risk program, including monitoring of forward-looking risks such as nature and biodiversity risks.

Adaptation and implementation of financial and non-financial risk programs to identify, assess, measure, treat, monitor, and report on climate risk.

Collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure appropriate responsibility and accountability for climate risk management, including the establishment of a climate risk database.

Development of a strong relationship with CSISI and provision of advice and challenge to climate and sustainability programs.

Initiation of reporting on transition risk for the credit and investment portfolio, as part of the Enterprise Transition Plan.

Assistance and/or leadership in the design and execution of scenario analysis to examine the consequences of climate risk over both the short and long terms.

Keeping abreast of climate risk regulatory development, contributing to market consultations, and engaging with regulatory authorities.

Participation in and/or presentation to senior management and/or Board committees.

Leadership and advice on climate risk-related engagement with global regulators.

Establishment of key climate risk metrics and impacts to influence strategic decision-making.

Ensuring actions are taken to maximize preparedness for business continuity events and overall operational resiliency.

Overseeing plans and directing the activities of the Climate Risk team to ensure business objectives are met.

Participation in governance forums as required, such as the ESG Disclosure Council and Enterprise Sustainability Council.

Skills/Qualifications:

Influencing and negotiating with great latitude on outcomes.

Applying in-depth knowledge of climate risk regulatory environment with ability to provide long-term strategic planning and manage tactical deliverables.

Leadership and organizational skills to direct the activities of governance bodies overseeing climate risk.

Thorough knowledge of corporate, industry, and business unit activities, compliance-related requirements, and risk mitigation techniques.

Analytical and communication skills to review and approve policies and procedures and work with line areas to oversee and manage risk activities.

College or university degree and/or relevant proven work experience in Risk Management is preferred. Direct understanding of, and experience with climate risk management is strongly preferred.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with being highly flexible and adaptable to change.

Climate Risk and/or Sustainability Risk qualification.
