National Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Safety Specialist to lead the Defence Shift Team. The successful candidate will work in heavily shielded cells at the Active Handling Facility on the Sellafield site.

The primary responsibility of this role is to supervise and manage five PIE shift technicians, ensuring a clear line of sight of all safety and security responsibilities. The Nuclear Safety Specialist will work closely with scientists and PIE technicians to deliver high-quality results within demanding timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety, Security and Quality: Ensure staff have completed mandatory training, provide resources for safe operations, and report 'Out of Norm' events.
  • Safety & Security Leadership: Act as Building Controller/Task Supervisor/First Aider as required.
  • Team Performance: Manage team and individual performance through regular reviews.
  • Delivering for our Customer: Foster a positive delivery culture while maintaining focus on safety, security, and quality.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience delivering for customers.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • A track record of applying knowledge in practical applications.
  • Excellent communication and team working skills.

This role offers a competitive salary range of £55,000 - £75,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a range of benefits including a pension plan, annual leave, and professional development opportunities.
