Job Summary

This role is a crucial part of our team at National Nuclear Laboratory, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our facilities. As a Health Physics Monitor, you'll be responsible for providing expert advice on radiological protection, producing reports and data, and working with other specialists to identify trends and areas for improvement.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide advice on radiological protection, referring upwards where necessary.
  • Produce survey sheets, reports, and data to support management decisions.
  • Work with specialists to share findings and identify trends, developing a holistic picture of safety and security issues.
  • Ensure specialist advice is proportionate and compliant with NNL and external requirements.
  • Follow through on advice provided, ensuring it's implemented effectively.
  • Attend training courses to maintain a high standard in the role.
  • Provide an emergency response for Health Physics matters.
  • Report issues and behaviours that cause concern in the workplace.
Ideal Candidate

We're looking for a candidate with a City and Guilds Level 1 in Radiation Protection or an NVQ Level 2 in Radiation Protection. Experience working as a Health Physics monitor in a nuclear facility is also essential. Good written and verbal communication skills are required, as well as knowledge of relevant regulations and the ability to obtain SC level security clearance.
