Job Summary

As a Health Physics Monitor at National Nuclear Laboratory, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our employees, the public, and the environment. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team and contribute to our mission of using nuclear science to benefit society.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide Radiological Protection Advice: Offer expert guidance on radiological protection, referring upwards where necessary and as agreed.
  • Produce Reports and Presentations: Create clear and concise reports, presentations, and data to support NNL management.
  • Collaborate with Specialists: Work with other experts to share findings, identify trends, and develop a comprehensive understanding of issues, concerns, good practices, and areas for improvement in EHSS&Q culture and performance.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure that specialist advice provided is proportionate and compliant with NNL and external requirements.
  • Implement Solutions: Follow through on advice provided to ensure it is implemented in a way that provides a suitable solution to the original problem identified.
  • Attend Training Courses: Ensure attendance at all training courses to maintain a high standard within the role of Health Physics Monitor.
  • Emergency Response: Provide an emergency response for Health Physics matters.
  • Report Issues: Report issues and behaviors that cause concern in the workplace.
Requirements
  • Certifications: Hold City and Guilds Level 1 in Radiation Protection or NVQ Level 2 in Radiation Protection.
  • Experience: Have experience working as a Health Physics Monitor in a nuclear facility.
  • Communication Skills: Possess good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge: Have knowledge of Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017, Environmental Permitting Regulations (amended) 2011, and Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
  • Security Clearance: Be able to obtain SC level security clearance.
