About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative scientist to join our team at SLB Cambridge Research (SCR), a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment with state-of-the-art research and computing facilities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new technologies and advanced materials for sustainable mineral extraction and water treatment, working closely with our team to accelerate SLB's growth in the Energy Transition technology space.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct literature and patent reviews to identify opportunities for innovation in electrochemical technologies and desalination.
  • Design and perform experiments to develop and test new technologies, analyzing and interpreting experimental data to inform research decisions.
  • Collaborate with the SLB technical community to drive novel research into new technologies and advance the state-of-the-art in mineral extraction and water treatment.
  • Publish research findings in scientific journals, write patent applications, and present to stakeholders, customers, and collaborators.
  • Ensure lab safety and equipment maintenance, and contribute to a positive and inclusive team environment.
Requirements
  • PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Research experience in electrochemical technologies, desalination, hydrometallurgy, water treatment, or related fields.
  • Experience with experimental rig design and construction, and advanced characterization techniques such as ICP, SEM, XPS, and NMR.
  • Strong scientific programming skills, including Python, MATLAB, and LabView.
