National Nuclear Laboratory Technical Apprenticeship

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic individual to join our Plant Inspection, Characterisation and Development Team as a Nuclear Technician Apprentice.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the nuclear sector, working on challenging projects and contributing to the delivery of plant inspection and characterisation technology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inspections and condition assessments using visual and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques.
  • Produce high-quality technical reports detailing findings and recommendations for continued safe operation.
  • Support the development of proposals for inspection and monitoring techniques, and tooling to access challenging environments.

The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, with a minimum of 5 GCSEs (9-4) including Maths and English, and be on track to achieving or have attained a Level 3 qualification, such as A-levels, or an advanced apprenticeship in a STEM-related subject.

A salary of £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience, is offered for this role, which is expected to last for approximately 3 years. During this time, you will receive comprehensive training and support, allowing you to develop your skills and knowledge in the nuclear sector.
