Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biomedical Scientist Team Manager to join our team at iPP Analytics Limited. As a key member of our Microbiology team, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of Biomedical Scientists, Junior staff, and Support staff in providing high-quality analytical services to patients and service users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize and manage a team of Biomedical Scientists, Junior staff, and Support staff to ensure efficient and effective laboratory operations.
  • Maintain the highest standards of conduct and compliance with regulatory directives, accreditation bodies, and local management policies.
  • Provide expert technical advice to clinicians on test appropriateness, timescales, and scientific guidance.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures, including Quality Standards and Key Performance Indicators.
  • Manage the introduction of new technologies and processes to maximize benefits and improve laboratory operations.
  • Be responsible for External and Internal Quality Assurance, reporting on and completing corrective actions as required.
  • Communicate efficiently and effectively with colleagues, clinicians, and other stakeholders.
  • Plan and organize audits and audit calendars, chairing and participating in Technical, Training, Quality, Audit, and Management meetings as required.
  • Utilize laboratory information management systems, quality monitoring systems, and other application software according to authorized protocols.
  • Provide management, training, and professional leadership to staff in your area of responsibility.
  • Monitor staff performance against laboratory standards and training plans, and participate in Continuous Professional Development activities.
  • Report and investigate all incidents and adverse events, conducting Root Cause analysis and remedial action as required.

Requirements

  • HCPC registered and Specialist portfolio or equivalent in Microbiology.
  • Management qualification to ILM level 3 or relevant experience.
  • MSc / FIBMS (by examination) / IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma and is currently in possession of Fellowship Class of the IBMS or equivalent experience.
  • Able to work across 3 different sites in a 24-7 work environment if required.
  • Able to work with a high degree of accuracy, numeracy, interpretive skills, and good problem-solving skills.
  • Able to demonstrate a good knowledge and experience of industry-standard laboratory information management systems and computer applications.
  • Working knowledge of Microbiological manual and automated techniques and practices.
  • Working knowledge of Molecular biology techniques and platforms.
