Position Overview

iPP Analytics Limited is seeking experienced Microbiology Specialist Biomedical Scientists to enhance our dynamic and fast-paced laboratory team. This role is integral to delivering a high-quality Microbiology service across multiple healthcare facilities and community practices.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Rotate through various Microbiology sectors as necessary, executing all assigned tasks in line with established protocols.
  • Conduct and interpret both routine and specialized biomedical tests independently, ensuring timely delivery of results while adhering to quality standards.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to Trainee Biomedical Scientists, Associate Practitioners, laboratory technicians, and Medical Laboratory Assistants in areas such as Bacteriology, Molecular Biology, and Serology.
  • Offer expert technical advice to medical professionals regarding test appropriateness and expected turnaround times.

Job Responsibilities

Specific Duties in Automation Laboratory

  • Demonstrate proficiency in the setup and operation of Kiestra automation systems.
  • Oversee workflow management within designated areas, optimizing processes to ensure efficient work throughput.
  • Collaborate with the Team Manager to manage automated identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.

Manual Bacteriology and Safety Management

  • Exhibit expertise in the setup and troubleshooting of liquid TB culture platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols regarding the handling of hazardous organisms.
  • Supervise the autoclave operations, maintaining safe practices.
  • Act as the Health and Safety Lead, ensuring that risk assessments and safety reports are conducted and documented.

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • HCPC registration with a minimum of two years of post-registration experience and a Specialist portfolio or equivalent in Microbiology.
  • Ability to work across multiple sites in a 24/7 operational environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficient in laboratory information management systems and standard office software.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of microbiological techniques and practices, both manual and automated.
