Biomedical Scientist Team Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biomedical Scientist Team Manager to join our dynamic Microbiology team at SYNLAB UK & Ireland. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing clinical analytical services, managing day-to-day staffing, and ensuring the safe delivery of services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Clinical Analytical Services: Ensure the accurate and timely analysis of patient samples, maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
- Manage Day-to-Day Staffing: Supervise and coordinate the activities of team members, ensuring effective resource allocation and maintaining optimal staffing levels.
- Service Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of new services, processes, and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Training and Competency Assessment: Supervise and assess the training and competency of team members, ensuring they meet the required standards.
- Appraisal and Recruitment: Conduct regular appraisals and participate in the recruitment process to identify and select top talent.
- Quality Control and Assurance: Ensure the maintenance of high standards of quality and safety, investigating and documenting non-conformances, and implementing corrective actions.
- Audit and Compliance: Participate in and undertake audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Standard Operating Procedures: Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the team, ensuring clarity and consistency.
- Error and Incident Reporting: Investigate and report errors and incidents, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Reporting and Monitoring: Provide regular reports and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring the maintenance of optimal service delivery.
- Risk and COSHH Assessments: Conduct risk and COSHH assessments, ensuring the safe working environment and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Departmental Meetings: Attend and chair departmental meetings, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Deputising for Principal BMS: Deputise for the Principal BMS as required, ensuring continuity and effective leadership.
- HCPC Registration: Hold current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Biomedical Scientist.
- Specialist Portfolio: Possess a Specialist Portfolio or equivalent in Microbiology.
- Management Qualification: Hold a management qualification to ILM level 3 or equivalent experience.
- Advanced Qualifications: Possess an MSc, FIBMS (by examination), or IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma, and be a Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) or equivalent experience.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and clients.
- Technical Skills: Possess a working knowledge of industry-standard laboratory information management systems, computer applications, and statistical packages.
- Microbiological Techniques: Have a working knowledge of microbiological manual and automated techniques, as well as molecular biology techniques and platforms.
