About the Role
iPP Analytics Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biomedical Scientist Team Manager to join our Microbiology team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of Biomedical Scientists, Junior staff, and Support staff in providing high-quality analytical services to patients and service users.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and manage a team of Biomedical Scientists, Junior staff, and Support staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality analytical services.
- Maintain the standards of conduct required by the Healthcare Professions Council (HCPC) as a registered Biomedical Scientist.
- Provide expert technical advice to clinicians on the appropriateness of tests, timescales, and scientific guidance.
- Have expert analytical and technical knowledge to perform and manage specialist analytical procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all policies as required by regulatory directives, accreditation bodies, and local management.
- Produce and manage Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Manage the introduction of new technologies and processes to maximize benefits.
- Be responsible for External and Internal Quality Assurance in the area of responsibility.
- Communicate efficiently, courteously, and with clarity at all times.
- Plan and organize audits and audit calendars.
- Chair/lead and/or participate in Technical, Training, Quality, Audit, and Management meetings.
- Utilize the laboratory LIMS, Q-Pulse quality monitoring system, and other application software according to authorized protocols.
- Provide management, training, and professional leadership to staff in the area of responsibility.
- Demonstrate on-going competency against training plans and participate positively in CPD activities.
- Report and investigate all incidents and adverse events.
- Observe safety regulations and attend mandatory fire, manual handling, and other courses as required.
- Ensure that all equipment within the area of work is maintained and operated as per SOPs.
- Be proficient in the use of ERP system (Axional).
Person Specification
Qualifications
- HCPC registered and Specialist portfolio or equivalent in Microbiology.
- Management qualification to ILM level 3 or relevant experience.
- MSc / FIBMS (by examination) / IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma and is currently in possession of Fellowship Class of the IBMS or equivalent experience.
Experience
- Able to work across 3 different sites in a 24-7 work environment if required.
- Able to work with a high degree of accuracy, numeracy, interpretive skills, and good problem-solving skills.
- Able to demonstrate a good knowledge and experience of industry standard laboratory information management systems and computer applications.
- Working knowledge of Microbiological manual and automated techniques and practices.
- Working knowledge of Molecular biology techniques and platforms.
